Your views on the future direction of Sacred Heart Petone

Fri Nov 18 02:57pm

Every three years the School Board is charged with setting the strategic direction for the school. In order to do that, it’s important we hear from our school community about their views.

The Board has put together a series of eight questions to help us understand your views on what the school is doing well, and how we can further support our students and school to succeed.

We want to ensure we can reach as many of you as possible, so we’ll be taking these questions to our school community groups, such as the Whānau Support Group, and Pasifika parents group, as well as running an online survey, and posting the questions in the school library where you will be able to write down your answers in person. The consultation runs from 17 November until 9 December.

The Board’s policy committee will use the findings from this consultation to form our three-year strategy early next year.

The link to the online survey is here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LXCSH7N

If you have any questions about the consultation process, the questions, or have suggestions on other groups we could talk to in our school community, we would love to hear from you. Please email Kate Wright on wright.katelouise@gmail.com or speak to another member of our School Board (Maria Dalope, Helen Mollo, David Prior, Fiona Daniel, Vaka Lemisio, Helen Kneebone, Tiran O’Hagan, Genevieve Hanify, Katy Grant and Liz Heatley).

Good afternoon everyone,

Last term we sent  home a notice with Term 4 sausage sizzle dates. We were meant to begin sausage sizzles tomorrow on 26 October, but due to an admin error on the order form notice that I sent home last week, the Term 4 sausage sizzles will start next Wednesday 2 November instead.

If you have paid and ordered using the order form I sent home last week, your child will receive their sausages as ordered starting Wednesday 2 November. Please accept my apologies for the mix-up.

Thank you to everyone who has returned order forms and payments. If you have ordered but not yet paid, please ensure you deposit payment in to the CAMP Account 12-3142-0121485-01

Please note there is no pressure to order a sausage every week. If you would like to order on the day, please send a note and your money to the office.

Year 6 and Year 7 (Camp 2023) parents and caregivers – are you please able to help out with the sausage sizzles? We need adult supervisors. If you can help on Wednesdays with the sausage sizzles, please contact Whaea Katy on katy@sacredheartpetone.school.nz

Covid updates

Mon Sep 12 09:52pm

New long-term strategy for COVID-19

You’ll be aware that New Zealand will move to a new, long-term approach to COVID-19. These changes have been made based on public health advice and reflect high levels of immunity and declining case numbers across New Zealand.

This new approach will only result in minor changes to the way we operate.

The very positive news is that household contacts of a person with COVID-19 do not need to isolate, but instead are asked to complete a RAT test each day, for five days. Therefore, ākonga who are household contacts but test negative and do not have COVID-19 symptoms, should continue to attend. It is the best place for them to be so they can be engaged in their learning, and connected with their teachers, classmates and friends.

Information on how to get RAT kits can be found here: Request a RAT– Ministry of Health

Mask wearing is no longer required.

All the other recommended public health measures will stay in place as we know they reduce the spread of infectious illnesses including COVID-19. These include ensuring our indoor spaces are well-ventilated, maintaining good hand hygiene, encouraging everyone to cough or sneeze into elbows and, most importantly, staying home and getting tested if they have COVID-19 symptoms.

Thank you for your ongoing support in protecting our community.
