Wed Mar 15 05:37pmKia ora whanau,
Thankyou to all parents who have let us know that they are able to come on our trip to Petone Beach this Friday.
We will set off around 9am to walk down as one big group but each parent/helper will walk along side a smaller group that they are assigned to. We will match parents/helpers to children before we set off.
If it is raining on Friday we will have to cancel our trip, but I will send out an alert/post before school to let you all know.
Thank you

School Closure – Strike Action – Thursday 16 March
Wed Mar 15 02:15pmDear Parents
School is closed tomorrow as all the teaching staff who are members of the NZEI will be on Strike. Please ensure that you have made alternative arrangementsfor your children as we are unable to provide supervision.
Teachers believe that every student should receive the attention, time and support they need for their education.
This isn’t always the case, and we are calling on the government to improve the working conditions for teachers, which affect children’s learning conditions.
This means:
Better support
More staff
Recognition for the work we do
Tomorrow, Thursday 16 March, we are taking strike action to press the government to improve conditions for schools.
Thank you for your support of this action

Industrial Action ā NZEI Strike on 16 March 2023.
Mon Mar 13 12:16pmDear parents and caregivers,
This morning the NZEI has formally advised the Sacred Heart Petone School Board that its member principal and teachers at our school will be taking strike action on 16 March 2023.
The Board has carefully considered the availability of non-union teaching staff, and unfortunately decided that we can’t provide normal instruction (teaching) during the strike, so the school will officially be closed for instruction on Thursday 16 March.
Accordingly, it’s important that you make alternative arrangements for the care of your child/children during the period of the strike, as no supervision can be provided at school.
We know that this is inconvenient for parents and students alike. Thank you for your understanding.
Please contact me on wright.katelouise@gmail.com if you have any queries relating to this decision.

Newsletter and Camp Update
Fri Mar 10 01:01pmHappy Friday everyone!
We have sent our latest newsletter using a new feature on our school website. The newsletter mailing list is the email address you have provided the school (the same email you use to log into Hero).
All parents and caregivers should have received the newsletter via email this morning. Please check your spam/junkmail folders and if possible, please mark as “not spam” so you can stay up to date with school news. If you have not received it, please let me know.
Camp Update
Please note that two students have fallen ill with a stomach bug. (One student has already returned home due to illness.) Unfortunately there are several other students who have reported they are not feeling the best. Whaea Katy has done her best to keep the unwell students isolated but as we all know tummy bugs can spread quickly.
The bus is due to pick the students up at 1pm today. We are expecting them back at school around 3pm. We will let you know if there is a delay for any reason via Hero.
Have a safe and happy weekend š
Newsletter
Wed Mar 08 03:36pmGood afternoon

Parking on Britannaia Street today
Thu Mar 02 10:37amKia Ora koutou
We have been in touch with the contactors who coned off Britannia Street this morning for road resurfacing. We have reached a compromise where they will not be resealing directly outside of the school today. They are resealing from the school crossing down to Udy Street today, with hopes of being finished by 3pm. There is a chance they will not be finished by 3pm, so please keep this in mind at school pick-up time today.
Due to earlier communication with the contractors, we were of the understanding that this work would not happen during school hours. We would like to offer our apologies for the confusion and frustration this has caused, and will update you once we know when they will be completing the second half of the street.
